As humans, there is a constant communication between what is going on inside of us and what is happening outside of us. A primary source that bridges this gap is food. How we feel can often influence how/what we eat. In turn, the foods we consume can have a massive influence on our moods and mental health.

This article from Pick Up Limes (linked below) highlights how compounds in food, such as particular amino acids, are building blocks for neurotransmitters that control much of our food and behavior such as serotonin and dopamine. It also discusses the role of carbohydrates, B-vitamins, micronutrients and minerals, bacteria, forms of fat, and more when it comes to our mood and brain health. It also discusses how other lifestyle factors play a role in our mental health. Overall, aiming for a diverse diet full of plant-based foods creates a solid foundation to set you up for emotional success.
